Membrane Equipment and Product Manufacturer’s Tour, Oct. 8, 2015
Hi- I wanted to let you know that this was probably my favorite SWMOA event in the several years I’ve been a member. As an end user of these products it was fascinating to see all that is involved in their creation. The contrast between an almost fully automated facility and one with many floor workers was eye-opening. I was very pleased to hear that the plant soon to be fully automated intends to retain its employees in other capacities- very different from the story of Doug’s experience which led to the founding of Protec. That story was fascinating & inspiring, so To visit Protec’s plant and see that vision made real was awesome. Later seeing Protec vessels in service at my plant, I had a whole new appreciation for them & all the people behind the scenes.
Talking shop with the top people in the industry, on the bus or at the facilities, was a valuable and rewarding experience.
This was a home run, well done!

The Membrane Equipment and Product Manufacturer’s Tour was my first SWMOA event, and it was definitely worthwhile. The tour was well organized, insightful, and generally very informative. As an entry level engineer looking forward to working with membranes in the future, I found this tour to be a very interesting and productive learning experience.

The SWMOA Membrane Equipment and Product Manufacturer’s Tour was well worth the time. It was well organized, and it included a good variety of products (membranes, pressure vessel to testing/lab) that are pertinent to advanced water treatment. The size of the tours were small enough, to get to listen to and ask questions to the tour guides. The length of each tour was good, filled with a well balance of information on the company as well as real-time show-and-tell portion of the manufacturing process that most engineers and operators don’t get to see in their jobs. The tours provide perspectives in what go on behind each products that as end users would not normally associated with. I highly recommend for anyone that has not been to similar tours like this to attend.

Just wanted to let you know this workshop was one of the best to date. It gave an in depth perspective on the equipment and chemicals we use every day. As operators we are the end user. To see first hand how the manufacturing is started and what goes into keeping the maximum life of our membranes is invaluable. I hope we can get some of the other manufacturers on board. Thanks again for all your hard work setting these functions up.

Membrane Equipment and Product Manufacturer’s Tour, Oct. 8, 2015
I had a great time on the SWMOA Membrane Tour last week, Thursday, October 8th, 2015. Our Facility is running a pilot for potable reuse and it was great to get insight on how the membranes are made and how they can be tested and examined. It gave me great information to pass on to not only my operators, but the public on the technology behind the process. The cut away of the RO membrane from Toray is a great prop for our tours! I hope there are more opportunities for tours and workshops like this one so I can send my operators and they can see how these facilities are run and how the membranes are constructed. SWMOA staff was excellent in providing food and transportation and keeping us hydrated. Thank you so much!

The SWMOA Workshop was one of the best Technical Transfer Workshops that I have attended. An ambitious schedule of four facilities central to the membrane industry really worked well and gave all the attendees a nice mixture of our industry. Seeing two different membrane manufacturers plants was treat that most operators don’t get to experience. Watching a pressure vessel be created was special and touring a facility where elements are tested helped the group see that part of the technology. Finally, when do we ever get to see a pressure vessel exploded on purpose?
